The Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) – Upper or Lower GI to join a respected NHS Trust.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical care, advice and support to patients with Upper or Lower Gastrointestinal conditions throughout their treatment pathway. You will act as a key worker, ensuring patients receive high-quality, evidence-based care while working collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses and allied healthcare professionals.

Pay Rate: £38.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Shift Length: 37.5 hours per week (or flexible opportunities where available)
Start Date: Immediate and ongoing opportunities available
Payroll: Weekly
What You'll Be Doing

Deliver specialist nursing care to patients with Upper or Lower GI conditions.

Act as a key worker, providing expert advice, education and emotional support to patients and their families.

Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and contribute to the development of personalised care plans.

Coordinate patient care throughout the diagnostic, treatment and follow-up pathways.

Work closely with Consultants, Surgeons, Oncologists, Gastroenterologists and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.

Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and contribute to clinical decision-making.

Provide health promotion, symptom management and supportive care in line with national guidelines and best practice.

Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records using electronic clinical systems.

Support service development, clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and education where appropriate.

Ensure care is delivered in accordance with Trust policies, clinical governance standards and the NMC Code.
What We're Looking For
Applicants must:
-
Hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Have significant post-registration experience within Gastroenterology, Upper GI, Lower GI or Cancer Services.

Have previous experience working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or in a comparable specialist nursing role.

Demonstrate excellent clinical assessment, communication and patient advocacy skills.

Be confident managing a specialist caseload and working autonomously.

Have experience working within multidisciplinary teams in an acute NHS setting.

Be familiar with electronic patient record systems.
-
Meet all required NHS compliance standards, including occupational health and mandatory training.
