The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist to support the Gastroenterology Department in the West Midlands.

This opportunity offers a locum contract from 17 August 2026 to 6 November 2026, working within a structured Monday to Friday, 08:45 - 17:15 job plan. The role is ideal for an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist with expertise in general gastroenterology and endoscopy.

You will be working alongside an established clinical team, supporting outpatient services, endoscopy provision, clinical administration, and specialist gastroenterology care, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective patient services.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver high-quality consultant-led care within a General Gastroenterology service.
• Undertake 4 outpatient clinics per week.
• Deliver 2 endoscopy sessions per week, with list type dependent on skillset and service requirements.
• Complete 3 clinical administration sessions per week.
• Provide Advice & Guidance / E-Triage support (0.5 session per week).
• Work collaboratively with consultants, nursing teams, AHPs, and wider multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
• Support safe, effective, and patient-centred service delivery.
• Participate in optional ward cover duties if desired, with adjusted activity during ward weeks.

What We're Looking For

• Active GMC registration.
• Eligibility to work at Consultant level in Gastroenterology.
• Relevant recent NHS experience in General Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
• Strong clinical judgement, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
• Ability to confirm there are no personal or professional matters requiring disclosure that may affect suitability for the role.
