The Programme

We are currently preparing for a proposed NHS Paediatric Allergy insourcing programme in North West England, designed to provide additional outpatient capacity within an established children's service.

As part of our workforce planning, we are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Registered Children's Nurses with Paediatric Allergy experience, particularly nurses who are competent in skin prick testing.

Subject to final approval, the programme is anticipated to run from October 2026 to March 2027, with regular clinical activity delivered at weekends.

What You'll Be Doing

• Support Consultant-led Paediatric Allergy outpatient clinics within a structured insourced service
• Undertake skin prick testing where appropriately trained and competent
• Support the assessment and investigation of children attending allergy clinics
• Recognise allergic reactions and deterioration, escalating appropriately in accordance with local clinical pathways
• Support the safe management of children with allergies and a history or risk of anaphylaxis
• Undertake appropriate clinical observations and provide nursing support throughout the patient pathway
• Work closely with Consultant Paediatricians and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
• Work in accordance with local clinical protocols, infection prevention requirements and governance procedures
• Support safe and efficient patient flow throughout planned weekend clinics

What We're Looking For

• Current NMC registration as a Registered Children's Nurse
• Recent and relevant paediatric nursing experience
• Experience supporting Paediatric Allergy services or clinics
• Demonstrable skin prick testing experience and competency
• Ability to recognise and appropriately escalate allergic reactions and deteriorating children
• Appropriate paediatric safeguarding and escalation competencies
• Up-to-date relevant paediatric life support training
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills
• Ability to work within structured, session-based outpatient services
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)
• Ability to provide regular weekend availability across the proposed programme
