The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist to support services in the West Midlands within the Anaesthetics Department.

This long-term locum opportunity has been created to support the opening of a new Theatre facility from 5 October 2026 and will continue until a substantive appointment is made. The role offers the opportunity to join an established multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality anaesthetic care within a busy surgical environment.

You will play a key role in supporting theatre activity, ensuring the safe delivery of perioperative care and contributing to the successful expansion of services within the hospital.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver safe, effective, and consultant-led anaesthetic care across a range of surgical procedures.
• Support theatre activity and service delivery during the launch of the new theatre facilities.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, theatre teams, nursing staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Provide expert clinical decision-making and leadership within the anaesthetic service.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
• Ensure high standards of patient care throughout the perioperative pathway.

What We're Looking For

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Eligibility to work at Consultant level in Anaesthesia.
• Recent NHS experience within Anaesthetics.
• Strong clinical judgement, communication skills, and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an established multidisciplinary team.
• Compliance with all mandatory onboarding and governance requirements.
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
• Willingness to complete the required declaration regarding personal and professional background disclosures.
