This fixed-term locum opportunity runs from 1 September 2026 to 26 February 2027, providing the opportunity to work within a well-established Cancer Services team across multiple hospital sites. It is ideally suited to candidates with extensive experience in Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Oncology, who are confident managing complex cancer pathways, prescribing chemotherapy, and delivering high-quality patient care in busy NHS settings. You will be working alongside established multidisciplinary teams, supporting oncology service delivery and contributing to safe, effective, and patient-centred care across both Exeter and North Devon. What You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver specialist oncology care for patients with Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) cancers
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage oncology patients in line with best practice and local protocols
  • Prescribe and oversee chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer treatments
  • Support day-to-day clinical operations and contribute to efficient service delivery
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses, pharmacists, and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards
  • Support service provision across both Exeter and North Devon sites
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, effective, and well-functioning clinical environment
What We're Looking For
  • Active GMC registration
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Medical Oncology
  • Extensive experience in Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Oncology
  • Proven experience prescribing and managing chemotherapy treatments
  • Relevant recent UK NHS experience
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an established multidisciplinary team
  • Strong clinical judgement, communication, and professionalism
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)
Essential Requirements
  • Must be on the GMC Specialist Register
  • Must have extensive experience in UGI Oncology
  • Must be confident prescribing chemotherapy
