The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist to support a leading Acute Hospital Trust in the West Midlands.
This opportunity offers a 3-month locum contract within a busy and well-established Anaesthetics Department. It is ideally suited to experienced Consultant Anaesthetists who are confident delivering high-quality perioperative care across a range of surgical specialities while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
You will play a key role in providing consultant-level anaesthetic services, supporting theatre activity, undertaking perioperative assessments, and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

- Provide consultant-level anaesthetic services across a range of surgical specialities
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and formulate individualised anaesthetic plans
- Deliver safe and effective anaesthetic care throughout the perioperative pathway
- Support elective and emergency theatre activity as required
- Manage complex and high-risk patients requiring specialist anaesthetic input
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, theatre teams, recovery staff, and critical care colleagues
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical discussions
- Provide expert clinical advice and support to junior medical staff and wider healthcare teams
- Participate in departmental governance, audit, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
- Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, professionalism, and clinical care
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthetics is essential
- CCT in Anaesthetics or equivalent qualification (CESR)
- Significant UK experience working at Consultant level within Anaesthetics
- Experience providing anaesthetic services across a broad range of surgical specialities
- Strong clinical knowledge of perioperative medicine and patient safety
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
