The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Consultant Interventional Radiologist to join our growing Medico-Legal Panel.

We have an immediate requirement for an expert to provide an independent screening breach of duty and causation report relating to an interventional radiology procedure. The instruction is based on a remote review of approximately 200 pages of medical records and supporting radiology, with no claimant examination required. The underlying instruction concerns the standard of a radiologically inserted gastrostomy (RIG) procedure, although confidential case details will only be shared following an initial suitability assessment and conflict check.

This opportunity is ideally suited to Consultants who have current or recent hands-on experience in Interventional Radiology, regularly perform image-guided procedures, and are able to provide clear, objective and well-reasoned independent clinical opinion.

What You'll Be Doing

• Review medical records, imaging and supporting documentation.
• Produce a clear, structured medico-legal report within your field of expertise.
• Provide an independent opinion on breach of duty and causation.
• Address the specific questions set out within the formal instruction.
• Clearly distinguish factual summary from independent clinical opinion.
• Identify any evidential limitations where appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and manage documentation in accordance with medico-legal standards.
• Participate in supplementary reports, clarification requests or conferences where required.

What We're Looking For

• Consultant Interventional Radiologist with active GMC registration and licence to practise.
• Current or recent NHS Consultant practice.
• Strong, current clinical experience undertaking image-guided interventional radiology procedures, including radiologically inserted gastrostomy (RIG) procedures.
• Previous medico-legal report writing or Expert Witness experience is required.
• Formal Expert Witness or Medico-Legal training is required.
• Ability to provide objective, independent opinion within your area of expertise.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to identify and declare any potential conflicts of interest prior to accepting instructions.
• Experts must be located in the United Kingdom.
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
