The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in the East of England with the appointment of a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified Consultant Anaesthetist to join an established anaesthetic service and provide high-quality clinical care across the Trust.

The successful candidate will support the department throughout the assignment, working as part of a multidisciplinary team and helping to maintain safe and effective patient care.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level anaesthetic services within the Trust.

The role will include:

  • Providing Consultant-level anaesthetic care
  • Pre-operative assessment and optimisation of patients
  • Delivering safe and effective anaesthesia for surgical procedures
  • Post-operative patient management
  • Working collaboratively with surgical, nursing and wider multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting the day-to-day delivery of the Anaesthetics service
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
  • Contributing to clinical governance and patient safety
  • Providing clinical leadership and support to junior medical staff where required

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Anaesthetics, or relevant experience for a locum appointment
  • Previous NHS Consultant Anaesthetist experience
  • Strong clinical experience within Anaesthetics
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
  • Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient-centred care
  • Availability to work a minimum of 4 days per week

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience working within an NHS Trust
  • Experience across a broad range of anaesthetic specialties
  • Teaching and supervision experience
  • Experience of clinical audit, governance or service improvement initiatives
