The Opportunity
We are supporting an NHS Trust in the East of England with the appointment of a Locum Consultant Neurologist.
This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified Consultant Neurologist to join an established Neurology service and support the delivery of outpatient care and waiting-list management.
The role offers a structured Monday to Friday working pattern with no on-call commitments, combining face-to-face outpatient clinics with virtual triage of the existing waiting list.

The Role
The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Neurology services across outpatient clinics and virtual waiting-list triage.
The clinical workload will consist of a blend of:
- Face-to-face Neurology outpatient clinics
- Virtual triage of patients on the existing waiting list
- Typically 4–5 outpatient clinics per week
- Approximately 2–3 virtual triage sessions per week
- Clinics are 4 hours in duration
- New patient appointments are allocated 30 minutes
- Clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of Neurology patients
- Development and review of appropriate treatment plans
- Clinical documentation and correspondence
- Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team
- Supporting effective management of the existing waiting list
- Contributing to clinical governance and service improvement activities
The post includes 7 clinical sessions and 3 administrative sessions per week.
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Neurology, or relevant experience for a locum appointment
- Previous NHS Consultant Neurology experience
- Strong experience in outpatient Neurology
- Ability to assess and manage Neurology patients independently
- Experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to work on-site for the duration of the assignment
- Availability to work Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
Desirable Requirements
- Experience managing outpatient waiting lists
- Experience with virtual clinical triage
- Previous experience working within an NHS Neurology service
- Teaching and supervision experience
- Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
