The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Consultant Histopathologist to support services in the East of England.
This urgent locum opportunity is due to commence on 7 September 2026 and offers a consistent Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm working pattern. The role is focused on General Histopathology, with a particular requirement for expertise in Urology and Cancer Pathology.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting cancer diagnostic services, ensuring cancer turnaround reporting targets of 10 days are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice.

What You'll Be Doing
- Provide high-quality diagnostic reporting within a General Histopathology service.
- Deliver specialist reporting in Urology and Cancer Pathology.
- Support the department in achieving 10-day cancer turnaround reporting targets.
- Work collaboratively with consultants, biomedical scientists, MDTs, and wider clinical teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and reports.
- Contribute to service improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with NHS policies, professional standards, and best practice guidelines.
What We're Looking For
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- FRCPath Part 2 qualification (essential).
- Recent UK NHS experience in General Histopathology.
- Specialist interest and experience in Urology and Cancer Pathology.
- Ability to meet demanding reporting deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong communication, clinical judgement, and multidisciplinary teamworking skills.
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
