About the role

About ProMedical

ProMedical provides specialist medico-legal services to law firms, insurers, regulators and public bodies requiring independent clinical opinion.

We operate as both an expert provider and a medical reporting organisation, managing the full pathway from instruction and expert matching through to reporting and case coordination. Our work is built around clinically matched experts, structured reporting, and strong governance standards to ensure accuracy, independence, and consistency.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Consultant Dermatologist with a specialist interest in iron extravasation injuries and skin staining to join our growing Medico-Legal Panel.

We have an immediate requirement for an independent expert to prepare a Clinical Negligence Condition & Prognosis Report following a claimant examination and review of the medical records.

The instruction relates to the long-term dermatological effects of an iron extravasation injury sustained during an intravenous iron infusion. The successful expert will undertake a medico-legal examination, review approximately 725 pages of medical records, and provide an independent opinion regarding the claimant's current condition, skin staining, cosmetic impact, future prognosis, treatment options and long-term outcome. Confidential case details will only be shared following an initial suitability assessment and conflict check.

Key Details

  • Work Type: Clinical Negligence – Condition & Prognosis Report
  • Engagement Model: Panel-Based / Per Instruction
  • Location: Greater London / Remote Records Review with Claimant Examination
  • Medical Records: Approximately 725 pages
  • Claimant Examination: Required
  • Report Turnaround: To Be Agreed
  • Earliest Appointment Availability: To Be Confirmed
  • Nearest Examination Venue: To Be Confirmed
  • Fees: Agreed Directly with the Expert
  • Start Date: Immediate

What You'll Be Doing

  • Review medical records, instructions and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct a medico-legal examination of the claimant.
  • Assess the claimant's current dermatological presentation, skin staining, cosmetic impact and ongoing symptoms.
  • Produce a clear, structured Condition & Prognosis Report within your field of expertise.
  • Provide an independent opinion regarding diagnosis, prognosis, future treatment options, expected long-term outcome and any permanent skin changes.
  • Address the specific questions set out by the instructing party.
  • Clearly distinguish factual history from independent clinical opinion and identify any evidential limitations.
  • Manage deadlines, confidentiality and documentation in accordance with medico-legal standards.
  • Participate in supplementary reports, clarification requests, conferences or Court attendance where required.

What We're Looking For

  • Consultant Dermatologist with active GMC registration and licence to practise.
  • Must be permanently based within the United Kingdom.
  • Must be currently practising within the NHS and/or UK independent healthcare sector.
  • Demonstrable current, direct clinical experience in Dermatology, including:
  • Iron extravasation injuries.
  • Persistent skin staining and pigmentation disorders.
  • Assessment of cosmetic skin changes.
  • Long-term dermatological prognosis.
  • Medical and procedural treatment of pigmentation disorders.
  • Previous medico-legal report writing and Expert Witness experience is required.
  • Formal Expert Witness and/or Medico-Legal training is required.
  • Ability to provide objective, independent clinical opinion within your field of expertise.
  • Ability to identify and declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest prior to accepting instructions.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
