The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to support in the East of England.
This opportunity offers a locum contract within a specialist CAMHS service, providing senior psychiatric input for children, young people, and their families. The role is ideal for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist who is confident managing complex and high-risk cases, undertaking comprehensive assessments, supporting medication management, and providing clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team environment.
You will work alongside established clinical teams, contributing to safe and effective care delivery while ensuring timely clinical decision-making to prevent deterioration and reduce the need for urgent or emergency interventions.

What You'll Be Doing
- Provide specialist psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and formulation for children and young people.
- Deliver senior medical input for children and families receiving CAMHS support.
- Conduct medication reviews and prescribe treatments where clinically appropriate.
- Lead on the management and review of high-risk and clinically complex cases.
- Participate in MDT meetings and pathway discussions, providing expert medical decision-making.
- Support the progression of cases where delays could result in clinical deterioration or escalation to urgent care services.
- Offer expert advice and guidance to families, carers, and partner professionals.
- Contribute to maintaining high standards of patient safety, clinical governance, and service delivery.
What We're Looking For
- Active GMC registration and inclusion on the Specialist Register.
- Section 12 Approval (Mandatory).
- Approved Clinician (AC) Status (Mandatory).
- Ability to drive and access to a vehicle (Mandatory).
- Experience working with children and young people within CAMHS services.
- Minimum of 6 months' psychiatric experience within the NHS in the UK (Desirable).
- Strong diagnostic, assessment, and formulation skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
