The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to support an Adult & Specialist Eating Disorders Service (NCEDS) in the East of England.

This opportunity offers a temporary locum contract, covering annual leave throughout July, August, and into early September, providing structured and consistent work within a specialist eating disorders service. It is well suited to candidates with experience in eating disorders and adult mental health services, who are confident working within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining high standards of care.

You will be working alongside established clinical teams, supporting day-to-day service delivery and contributing to safe, effective patient care.

• Shift Pattern: Full-Time, minimum 3 days per week on-site (hybrid working may be considered)
• Pay Method: Direct Engagement
• Additional Notes: Approved Clinician (AC) approval required. MRCPsych essential. Specialist Registration preferred. All candidates must be willing to work via Direct Engagement and within IR35 arrangements.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver high-quality psychiatric care within a specialist eating disorders service.
• Support day-to-day clinical operations, contributing to effective patient care and service delivery.
• Conduct psychiatric assessments, patient reviews, and ongoing medical monitoring.
• Work collaboratively with consultants, nurses, psychologists, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Liaise with Cambridge NCEDS and other relevant services to support continuity of care.
• Maintain clear, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
• Identify and escalate clinical concerns appropriately.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe, effective, and well-functioning clinical environment.

What We’re Looking For

• Active GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Relevant recent UK experience within Adult Mental Health and/or Eating Disorders Services.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of an established multidisciplinary team.
• Strong clinical judgement, communication, and professionalism.
• Approved Clinician (AC) Approval.
• MRCPsych qualification.
• Specialist Registration preferred.
• Experience conducting specialist psychiatric assessments and patient reviews.
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
