About the Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our dynamic mental health service in Sheffield. In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of providing crisis intervention and statutory mental health assessments, ensuring that the rights, dignity, and safety of vulnerable individuals are consistently upheld.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and undertake comprehensive assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) across the Sheffield locality.

  • Provide expert statutory advice and guidance on mental health legislation to colleagues, service users, and their families.

  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, the police, ambulance services, and other partner agencies to ensure safe and effective crisis intervention.

  • Advocate for the least restrictive options, promoting recovery-focused and person-centered care.

  • Complete high-quality, legally robust, and timely statutory reports and documentation.


Essential Requirements
  • Professional Qualification: Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or Psychology.

  • Registration: Active registration with your relevant professional body (Social Work England, NMC, or HCPC).

  • AMHP Status: A current, valid AMHP warrant/approval and up-to-date AMHP training.

  • Experience: Proven post-qualifying experience working in complex statutory mental health or crisis settings.

  • Travel: A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle are highly desirable due to the travel requirements of the role.
