Overview
Randstad Education is recruiting dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a fully accessible, state-of-the-art specialist school in Stevenage. Catering to pupils with physical disabilities, complex learning difficulties (SLD), autism, and sensory or communication needs, this exceptional setting features specialist facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, Optimistic equipment, and adapted sensory spaces.
This role is ideal for experienced SEN TAs, mainstream TAs looking to specialise in SEND, or care/residential professionals wanting to transfer their skills into an educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Assist teachers with lesson delivery, resource preparation, and classroom setup.
- Support pupils with challenging behaviours using positive behaviour management.
- Assist with personal care needs (e.g., feeding, toileting, mobility) where required.
- Maintain robust safeguarding standards while fostering pupil confidence and independence.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 months of experience working with children or young people with complex SEN/care needs.
- Calm, resilient, and compassionate approach to behaviour management and personal care.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and overall communication skills.
- Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
- Team Teach certification preferred (or willingness to undertake training).
- Two recent professional references.
