Why This Role Matters
The Learning Designer is responsible for designing and developing high quality training solutions across digital and blended formats. Working as part of the Learning Design team, the role translates business needs, technical content and learner requirements into effective learning experiences aligned to the Money Guidance Competency Framework.
The role supports a national training offer delivered to a wide network of external organisations and practitioners across the UK, designed to improve their understanding, skills, and confidence in money guidance and financial education for the benefit of their customers or service users.
The largest initiative - Money Guiders - is undergoing significant expansion and currently includes:
- 250 programme partners
- 17,000 practitioners (learners)
- A UK-wide programme of learning and CPD events

- City & Guilds Assured digital credentials
- A unique Money Guidance Competency Framework
The postholder will play a critical role in creating new training solutions to meet the needs of a rapidly growing and diverse learner base, working independently on projects as part of a collaborative team.

Job description
What You’ll Be Doing
Learning Design and Training Content Development
- Hold accountability for the creation of a portfolio of training solutions.
- Design and develop pedagogically sound training solutions across a range of digital and non-digital formats, including eLearning, webinars, workshops, microlearning, video, and assessments.
- Manage the end-to-end process for transforming learner needs and concepts into deliverable training/learning output.
- Apply a range of instructional approaches and adult learning principles to meet diverse learner needs.
- Apply accessible learning practices and design principles to ensure all individuals can access and benefit from all training programmes.
- Ensure all training content aligns with defined learning outcomes, learner needs, and the Money Guidance Competency Framework.
- Manage the authoring of bespoke training/learning materials.
- Translate technical content and subject matter expertise into engaging, accessible, and effective learning experiences.
- Produce high-quality learning outputs such as storyboards, scripts, workshop materials prototypes, and supporting resources.
- Support lifecycle management of a large and growing digital learning library, including technical content updates, and refreshing instructional approaches.
Collaboration and Delivery
- Support the prioritisation of the training content pipeline and delivery plan.
- Work flexibly as part of the Learning Design team to deliver the training content pipeline.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), learners, authors, trainers, facilitators, and digital content producers to co-create training solutions.
- Manage project plans involving suppliers and internal teams e.g. platform operations, external accreditation, events, to ensure training programmes are delivered effectively.
- Ensure compatibility of learning content with digital learning platforms and systems.
- Contribute to future plans for training solutions that support practitioners, leaders and manager in a wide range of job roles and sectors.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all content meets quality standards, including accessibility, brand, and external accreditation requirements.
- Use learner feedback and data to evaluate the effectiveness of training and inform continuous improvements.
- Stay up to date with learning design trends, tools, and best practice to enhance learning provision.

What You’ll Bring
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Essential:
- Significant experience in learning and training design, applying adult learning principles across a range of formats.
- Demonstrable experience with learning platforms (e.g. LMS/LXP) and creating engaging digital and/or blended learning solutions using market leading tools such as Adapt, Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Synthesia, Camtasia.
- Ability to translate complex or technical content into clear, engaging learning experiences
- Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders, including learners, subject matter experts and content developers.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet delivery deadlines.
Desirable:
- Experience working with skills and competency frameworks.
- Knowledge of financial capability, money guidance, or related sectors.
- Experience with accredited training or digital credentialing.
