Introduction

Our Major Works team plays a vital role in improving residents' homes and communities by delivering a wide range of planned investment and refurbishment programmes across L&Q's housing portfolio. These projects include cyclical decorations, window and door replacements, fire safety improvement works, roofing and structural projects, internal refurbishments and other large-scale investment programmes that help ensure residents live in safe, high-quality homes.

Overview of the role:

We are looking for two ambitious graduates to join our busy and supportive Major Works team to train as a Graduate Project Manager ultimately responsible for delivering a range of planned programme works streams.

This requires efficient, high quality and a customer-focused delivery.

Covering South or East regions of London, the main purpose of the role will be to support the Major Works team in a variety of planned major works programmes, such as, cyclical decorations, window and door renewal, fire risk assessments, external projects (roofs and structural elements), supported housing projects, internal refurbishments and stock condition surveys.

Areas of responsibility will include, but are not exclusive to, carrying out inspections (to ensure works are completed to a high standard), signing off completed works, checking the quality of works to an agreed standard and ongoing resident engagement and support.

You will be engaged in a challenging role from day one and be accountable for your area of responsibility whilst being supported by a Project Manager and Senior Major Works Manager to guide and develop skills where required.

Strong organisational skills are essential to this role as well as excellent written and oral communication and an understanding of what first-class customer service skills are.

Your impact in the role:

  • Support the day-to-day coordination of planned works and property services programmes.
  • Attend site visits and help check that works are completed safely, on time and to expected quality standards.
  • Help maintain clear communication with residents, colleagues, contractors and internal teams.
  • Track actions, update records and support accurate programme reporting.
  • Help identify and escalate risks, defects, access issues or resident concerns.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing learning, feedback and practical ideas.

What you'll bring:

  • A genuine interest in project delivery, housing, property services, construction or resident-focused services.
  • A degree in construction or a similar discipline is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with a range of people.
  • Good organisation skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn new systems.
  • A practical, curious and resilient approach to solving problems.
  • Commitment to L&Q’s values, health and safety, inclusion and excellent customer service.
  • Willingness to travel to L&Q sites and offices as required. A driving licence may be desirable depending on location and travel arrangements.
