Rate: £30 per hour umbrella
Contract: Temporary
Working Pattern: 4 days in the Kettering office, 1 day from home
Hours: Full-time
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Options Advisor to join a housing team in Northamptonshire.
The role will focus on carrying out initial homelessness assessments for customers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will assess individual circumstances, identify the appropriate statutory duties and work proactively to prevent homelessness wherever possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial homelessness assessments for customers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Assess eligibility, homelessness and whether there is reason to believe the applicant may have a priority need.
- Determine whether any Section 188 interim accommodation duties are owed.
- Identify opportunities to prevent homelessness and achieve positive outcomes for customers.
- Provide clear housing advice based on individual circumstances and relevant legislation.
- Work with customers to identify appropriate housing options and solutions.
- Ensure assessments and case records are accurate and completed within required timescales.
- Work with internal teams and external agencies where required to support customers.
- Previous experience working as a Housing Options Officer/Advisor or Homelessness Officer.
- Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and statutory duties.
- Experience carrying out homelessness assessments and making decisions around eligibility, homelessness and priority need.
- Knowledge of Section 188 duties and homelessness prevention.
- A customer-focused approach with strong communication and interviewing skills.
- The ability to manage a busy caseload and make sound decisions under pressure.
