About the role

Senior Earthing Studies Engineer
Bristol or Warrington based - hybrid working

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Earthing Studies Engineer to work with us to help strengthen our electrical team. The role will be primarily desk based, with the need for occasional site visits and soil resistivity surveys.

Candidates should have 4+ years’ experience of earthing studies, gained within a consultancy, ICP, renewable developer, or similar environment.

Candidates are expected to be familiar with concepts such as EPR, touch and step voltage, fault current return paths and soil resistivity, and be able to use AutoCAD to prepare earthing layout drawings.

The role also has the opportunity for the engineer to move into more general power systems analysis, if desired.

The role is based either in our Bristol Office, but could also be based out of our Manchester (Irlam) office.

Candidates should have a Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, without requiring a visa.

Essential Characteristics

The following characteristics are essential for all applicants:

BSc, BEng or equivalent

4+ years’ experience in earthing design and analysis.

Experience of attending sites for soil resistivity analysis, fall of potential and earthing surveys.

Confident with AutoCAD for preparing site layouts.

Knowledge of earthing and theory including EPR, touch and step voltages and fault current return paths.

Own car and willingness to travel for soil resistivity surveys.

Knowledge of CDEGS or XGSLab

Confident in dealing with Clients to discuss results and actions

Desirable Characteristics

The following characteristics are desirable, but not essential for all applicants:

MSc or MEng
Knowledge of lightning protection systems
Knowledge of EMF and induced voltage studies
