About the role
Morson are recruiting a Project Controller on an initial 12 month contract with BAE Systems in Warton, this is a hybrid role, candidates must be ok to work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday on site. The Project Controller is responsible for monitoring, controlling and forecasting the Infrastructure & Facilities Services (I&FS) cost base, ensuring robust financial governance, accurate reporting, and effective business planning.
Working closely with Finance, Engineering teams, Team Leaders, Managers and Senior Leadership, the Project Controller provides critical insight into budget performance, workforce planning, project controls, and business risks and opportunities.
The successful candidate will utilise advanced analytical and Microsoft Excel skills to maintain financial integrity across a complex portfolio of approximately 250 individual budget lines, supporting informed decision-making and effective resource allocation across the organisation.
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
Using your advanced skills in MS Excel you will monitor & control the I&FS Costbase by
Ensuring the integrity of budget values held by Finance, and disseminated to the teams
Monitor the EAC of c250 individual budget lines, whilst forming an understanding of the work delivered by each budget, and the consequences of said work not being delivered
Engage with stakeholders to manage risks & opportunities within the budgets
Using the maintained live position, reforecast the all up budget in line with Finance’s reforecasting schedule
Maintain & submit to Finance, monthly accruals to ensure the relevant budgets lines spend in line with the forecast
On a monthly basis, meet with Engineers & Team Leaders to review their costbase budgets
Prepare a summary of the Non-Labour costbase budget, including the details of any budgets not spending in line with the forecast. Present the live position to the Director & their management team.
In line with the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process, collate, review & analyse the IBP submissions received from the Engineers, Team Leaders & Managers. Prepare a bridge of any changes to the previous plan, and present to Senior Leaders.
Towards Year End, launch the YE accruals process. Issue a mandated template for outstanding invoices to be submitted. Collate the various inputs into a single document, and submit to Finance.
Receive monthly invoices relating to Utilities. Analyse their values, compared to forecast. Once validated by a 3rd party supplier, ensure they are approved & paid in line with the correct payment terms.
Monitor & control the live recruitment & headcount plan, accurately providing a reforecast to Finance upon request
Analyse workload demand being placed on the business, and ensure that the supply solution created is in line with the demand. Understand any delta’s between the demand & the supply, and bridge the drivers to SLT.
Knowledge:
Essential:
Good knowledge of IT business systems
Good knowledge of project control techniques management, ideally on a number of different programmes (Excel)
Experience with project / contract status reviews, and business reporting requirements
An understanding of Cost and Resource Management
Understanding of Project and Business Risk and Opportunity Management
Desirable:
Knowledge of the Infrastructure & Facilities Management industry.

Strong analytical skills, including advanced knowledge of MS Excel (VLOOKUPS, SUMIFS, Dashboards, Pivot Tables)
Demonstrable stakeholder engagement and management

Degree or relevant experience with demonstrable track record in a similar role
APMQ or similar qualification
