About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Traffic / Senior Traffic & Parking Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the design, development and delivery of parking, traffic management, road safety and transportation projects, while managing stakeholders, consultations and project delivery from conception through to implementation.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering traffic and parking schemes, providing professional engineering advice, supporting junior staff and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs), Permit Parking Areas (PPAs), Pay by Phone schemes, Junction Protection, Traffic Calming and Yellow Box Junction projects.
  • Manage and deliver parking, traffic management, road safety and transportation projects from inception through to implementation.
  • Review and develop parking controls, shared use bays, loading bays and kerbside management proposals.
  • Design schemes in accordance with TSRGD, DfT guidance and industry best practice.
  • Prepare designs, drawings, technical reports, committee reports, consultation material, presentations and briefings.
  • Manage public consultation processes, including responses to objections, enquiries and stakeholder feedback.
  • Liaise with residents, Councillors, statutory consultees, developers, contractors and external agencies.
  • Produce map based drawings, traffic order plans and engineering layouts using relevant design software.
  • Provide professional engineering advice on traffic, parking and highway matters.
  • Manage project programmes, work schedules, budgets and contractor performance.
  • Review Bills of Quantities, activity schedules and project costs.
  • Approve invoices and monitor project expenditure.
  • Support and supervise junior engineers and technical staff where required.
  • Assist in developing innovative solutions to traffic and parking related issues.
