The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Technician to join our Construction department at the Hackney Campus. You will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning by preparing practical workshops, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring a safe, engaging, and productive learning environment for all electrical and plumbing students.

This is a hands‑on, dynamic role ideal for someone with strong practical skills and a passion for the electrical and plumbing trade.

  • Ensure resources are stored and organised in line with college policies.
  • Oversee and support students during practical sessions to maintain safe working practices.
  • Manage stock levels, order supplies, and recycle materials where appropriate.
  • Provide technical support to staff and respond to students’ practical needs.
  • Assist in creating a high-quality, professional workshop environment.

Who You Are:

  • A relevant qualification or experience in the electrical and plumbing trade.
  • Practical knowledge of traditional and modern techniques.
  • Experience working in construction, multi‑skills, or similar technical disciplines is beneficial.
  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good understanding of health and safety in workshop environments.
  • Friendly, clear communicator with the ability to support young people and adult learners.
  • Willingness to work towards an Assessor’s Award.
