Process Team Leader 

Location: Birmingham
Salary: £34,965 per annum
Hours: Shift-based

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Process Team Leader to join a busy manufacturing and production environment in Birmingham.

Working closely with the Process Shift Manager, you will play an important role in ensuring the department operates safely, efficiently and meets production, quality and KPI requirements. You will also provide management cover during periods of sickness, holidays, training and when the manager is off site.

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the Process Department, working across a variety of production areas and ensuring all processes are completed safely and to the required standard.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the Shift Manager with the effective running of the Process Department.
    • Leading and supporting colleagues across different process areas
    • .
    • Operating and monitoring processing and production equipment.
    • Working across fermentation, filtration, product transfer, syrup preparation and product supply.

    • Carrying out quality checks, sampling and monitoring production processes.

    • Setting up pipework and monitoring tanks, filters and processing equipment.

    • Completing CIP, cleaning and preparation activities to ensure equipment is ready for production.

    • Safely loading, unloading and cleaning road tankers.

    • Monitoring equipment for leaks, faults or defects and escalating issues promptly.

    • Completing SAP transactions, including MIGO, production orders, stock movements, goods receipting and scrapping.

    • Completing production paperwork, reports, stock audits and work instructions.

    • Supporting staff training and development.

    • Working with other departments to resolve production issues.

    • Maintaining high standards of health & safety, GMP, hygiene and housekeeping.

    • Ensuring agreed production targets and KPIs are achieved within the required timescales.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within a process, manufacturing, food, beverage or production environment, preferably at Senior Operator or Team Leader level.

You should have:
  • Experience operating and monitoring production/process equipment.

    • Good understanding of health & safety and hygiene procedures.

    • Experience using SAP, ideally including MIGO and production orders.

    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

    • Good attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.

    • The confidence to support, lead and train colleagues.

    • A proactive and flexible approach to work.

    • Good PC and administration skills.

    • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative.

Working Environment

This is a hands-on role within a busy processing environment, working both indoors and outdoors. You may be exposed to machinery, noise, chemicals, steam, hot and cold water and industrial gases. Must be happy to handle alcohol. 

The role can also involve physical activity including lifting, pulling, bending and reaching. Full training and appropriate PPE will be provided.
