About the role
This rewarding role will involve supporting pupils primarily within KS1 who have a range of additional needs and significant developmental delays. Many of the children are currently working within developmental milestones typically associated with 6-18 months of age and require high levels of support throughout the school day.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant within the school’s SEND base, you will:
- Provide tailored support to children with complex SEND needs.
- Help pupils access learning activities through play-based and sensory approaches.
- Support communication, social development and emotional regulation.
- Assist with personal care, including changing and toileting where required.
- Work closely with teachers, SEND professionals and other support staff to ensure pupils receive the highest level of care and education.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, supported and engaged.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous experience working with children with SEND, either in education, care or support settings.
- Be confident supporting children with personal care needs, including changing and toileting.
- Have a patient, nurturing and empathetic approach.
- Be able to work as part of a dedicated team whilst using their own initiative.
- Be passionate about helping children with additional needs reach their full potential.
