About the role

Morson Edge is supporting a leading consultancy partner on a major UK infrastructure programme and is seeking a Lead Architect (Digital Skills) to support the design and integration of a complex, highly regulated development.

This is not a traditional architectural design role. The successful candidate will provide architectural and digital leadership, working across physical building design, BIM, digital coordination and design assurance within a highly multidisciplinary environment.

The role will support senior engineering leadership by providing architectural oversight and ensuring that design information, digital models and project data remain coordinated, consistent and aligned throughout the programme lifecycle.

The Role

Working as part of the programme’s design function, you will support architectural leadership across multiple buildings, facilities and design packages.

You will operate at the interface between architectural design, digital information, multidisciplinary coordination and programme delivery, helping to ensure that design information accurately reflects engineering intent, buildability and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior architectural advice on design progress, integration and maturity.
  • Support architectural leadership across multiple building and infrastructure packages.
  • Coordinate architectural, civil, structural and building services information.
  • Support site masterplanning, spatial integration and interface coordination.
  • Establish and maintain architectural design and digital information standards.
  • Review architectural models, design outputs and technical information.
  • Support BIM and digital design coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Help ensure digital models accurately reflect design intent and buildability.
  • Identify and manage architectural, digital and integration risks, assumptions and dependencies.
  • Support design reviews, governance activities and programme stage gates.
  • Define and assess architectural design maturity and acceptance criteria.
  • Provide assurance across architectural design information and digital deliverables.
  • Support the integration and traceability of architectural information throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders, design teams and delivery partners.

About You

We are keen to speak with Senior Architects, Principal Architects and experienced architectural/digital design professionals with experience working on complex, highly coordinated projects.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong senior-level architectural experience on complex projects.
  • Strong digital architecture and BIM capability.
  • Experience integrating multidisciplinary design information.
  • Experience working with BIM and Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms.
  • Strong Revit capability.
  • Experience with digital design coordination and information management.
  • Experience providing design assurance or technical oversight.
  • Ability to identify and manage design risks, interfaces and dependencies.
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders, disciplines and delivery teams.
  • Strong communication, reporting and technical assurance skills.
  • Experience working within a structured governance or Design Authority environment would be advantageous.

Backgrounds Considered

Nuclear experience is advantageous but not essential.

We would welcome applications from candidates with experience across:

  • Nuclear
  • Energy
  • Major infrastructure
  • Heavy industrial
  • Manufacturing
  • Process engineering
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Data centres
  • Rail and transport
  • Water and wastewater
  • Defence
  • High-tech facilities
  • Other safety-critical or highly regulated environments

Experience on technically complex, highly regulated or large-scale multidisciplinary programmes would be particularly relevant.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to work on a major, technically complex UK infrastructure programme, providing senior architectural and digital input across a multidisciplinary design environment.

The role offers the opportunity to influence architectural integration, BIM and digital design processes while working closely with senior engineering and design stakeholders.
