Cromer Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher (Inclusion Base) to lead our specialist Inclusion Base, supporting students with additional educational needs to achieve their full potential within a mainstream secondary setting.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality specialist provision while promoting inclusion across the academy. Working closely with the SENDCo and wider school community, you will provide inspirational teaching, lead a skilled team of support staff, and ensure every pupil receives the tailored support they need to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the Academy's Inclusion Base, ensuring outstanding teaching, learning and specialist SEND provision.
- Deliver a broad and ambitious curriculum, adapting teaching to meet individual educational needs and statutory EHCP requirements where applicable.
- Develop and review personalised learning plans alongside pupils, parents and carers.
- Monitor pupil progress, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adapt provision to maximise outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with mainstream colleagues to promote inclusive practice across the Academy.
- Lead and support teaching assistants and other staff working within the Inclusion Base, promoting continuous professional development.
- Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, external agencies and specialist professionals.
- Support effective transitions into, within and beyond the Inclusion Base.
- Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, behaviour, attendance and pupil wellbeing.
- Contribute fully to the wider life of the Academy, including meetings, professional development and school events.
About You
You will be an enthusiastic and highly effective classroom practitioner with a genuine passion for inclusive education. You will have experience of supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities and be committed to ensuring every learner can access an ambitious curriculum within a mainstream setting.
You will be able to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues, demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, and inspire both students and staff through your knowledge, leadership and commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential:
- An appropriate degree and other qualifications required for the award of QTS.
- Qualified Teacher Status (trainees should be on track to achieve QTS before taking up the post).
- Experience of delivering high-quality teaching within a secondary school.
- Experience of successfully supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015), Equalities Act (2010) and statutory requirements relating to safeguarding, health and safety and child protection.
- Strong understanding of effective teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
- Experience of monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting on pupil progress.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with pupils, parents, colleagues and external professionals.
- Commitment to inclusive education and evidence-based practice.
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications or specialist training relating to SEND (such as NASENCO or NPQ SENCO).
- Experience of leading or working within a specialist resource base or inclusion provision.
- Experience of leading or mentoring colleagues to improve inclusive practice.
- Experience of working alongside Educational Psychologists and other specialist services.
- Ability to develop wider community partnerships that support inclusion.
