Consultant - Ophthalmology (Medical Retina/Macular)
Grayscale Medical is recruiting a Consultant Ophthalmologist with Medical Retina/Macular subspecialty expertise for a full-time locum assignment at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. This position pays £100/hr assignment rate and runs from immediate start through 1st December 2026.
The role sits within the Ophthalmology department at the RVH, one of Northern Ireland's leading tertiary referral centres. You will provide specialist Medical Retina and Macular clinic cover, managing patients with age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, and other macular pathology. The position requires independent practice at consultant level, including intravitreal injection clinics, fluorescein angiography interpretation, and OCT-guided management decisions.
Requirements include GMC registration with licence to practise at consultant level, substantive or locum consultant experience in Medical Retina/Macular disease, right to work in the UK, up-to-date DBS/AccessNI clearance, professional indemnity insurance, and a minimum of 2 professional references.
