About the role

To work 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. Permanent.

Job overview

The main responsibility of the role will be to assist a pupil with complex needs on a one-to-one basis, the role holder will be the main staff support, enabling the pupil to build confidence and reach their full potential through implementing Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) targets. The role holder will use their experience and expertise to develop the social and emotional welfare of the child as well as providing practical support in day to day tasks including eating, dressing, toileting and hygiene.

The role of an LSA also includes working under guidance of teaching staff: implement work programmes to individuals/groups this could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas; assist in whole planning cycle and management/preparation of resources; provide cover for whole classes for short periods under an agreed system of supervision.

The ideal candidate will:

Have experience and expertise in providing support to a child/children with complex needs.

Show initiative, provide intervention, promote independent learning, and work successfully as part of a team.

Have knowledge of the KS1 / KS2 curriculum.

Have high expectations of all children for learning and behaviour.

Be able to manage time effectively and balance different priorities.
