About the Role

This full-time RE teaching role involves delivering engaging, high-quality Religious Education lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The successful candidate will foster deep critical thinking, religious literacy, and respect for diverse cultures and worldviews. With fully resourced schemes of work provided, the teacher can focus on strong classroom delivery, responsive teaching, and meaningful student interaction rather than building resources from scratch.

Key Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
  • Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
  • Strong subject knowledge across major world religions, non-religious worldviews, and contemporary ethical issues. .
  • Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.

  • Subject Expertise: Deep understanding of religious concepts, theology, and ethical frameworks.
  • Behaviour Management: Ability to maintain a calm, structured classroom through high expectations.
  • Adaptive Teaching: Tailoring delivery to ensure accessibility for all learning abilities.
  • Critical Thinking Facilitation: Guiding respectful, open dialogue on sensitive and complex moral topics.
  • Communication: Articulate verbal and written communication tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Reflective Practice: Actively implementing feedback from coaching to improve practice continuously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-impact, well-structured RE lessons that inspire interest in world faiths, ethics, and philosophy.
  • Maintain high behavioural expectations to foster a calm, focused, and purposeful learning environment.
  • Utilise pre-prepared, high-quality schemes of learning to deliver clear and challenging instruction.
  • Implement effective live assessment and feedback strategies in line with the department policy.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing targeted support to ensure every pupil achieves their full potential.
  • Actively participate in weekly 1-to-1 instructional coaching sessions to continuously refine teaching techniques.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion through an inclusive approach to religious education.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with students, parents, and the broader local community.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the humanities department and wider academy team.
  • Uphold strict safeguarding and child protection standards at all times.
