About the role

Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Mainstream SEN Department

Location: Witham, Essex

Pay: £100 per day

Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time agency supply

About the Role

Are you looking for a rewarding role in education? We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join the dedicated SEN Department within a welcoming mainstream school in Witham.

In this role, you will work within the school's specialist SEN provision and mainstream classrooms, supporting pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will help bridge the gap for students with needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning needs, ensuring they can fully access the mainstream curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support both within the SEN department and integrated mainstream lessons.

  • Assist pupils with academic tasks, emotional regulation, and social integration.

  • Deliver targeted interventions under the guidance of the SENCo.

  • Support personal care and mobility routines where necessary.

  • Help create tailored visual aids and learning resources to support individual pupil needs.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Prior experience as an LSA or in care/youth work is desirable, but not essential-a positive, adaptable attitude is key!

  • Transferable Skills: Great fit for graduates, care assistants, early years workers, or parent carers looking to work in a school environment.

  • Attributes: Strong communication skills, empathy, patience, and a collaborative mindset.

  • Requirements: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).

Benefits

  • Competitive rate of £100 per day.

  • Standard school hours (Monday-Friday, term-time only).

  • Convenient Witham location with excellent direct rail and road links (A12).

  • Supportive SENCo team with ongoing on-the-job training.
