Graduate Manufacturing Engineer

The Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will help turn engineering concepts into reliable automated manufacturing equipment. This is a hands-on equipment development position rather than a production management or traditional continuous improvement role. You will spend significant time building, modifying and testing machinery, working with mechanical assemblies, robotics, sensors, cameras and actuators. You will also use CAD, prototyping and structured fault-finding to solve technical challenges. Reporting to a Lead or Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will have room to grow your skills across mechatronics, automation, robotics and manufacturing engineering.

• Build, modify and commission automated manufacturing equipment.
• Integrate robotics, sensors, cameras, motors, actuators and mechanical components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and process-related equipment faults.
• Create CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, jigs and fixtures.
• Prototype components using 3D printing and practical workshop methods.
• Complete functional, repeatability, cycle-time and endurance testing.

Requirements

• A 2:1 (or equivalent)  in Mechanical, manufacturing, mechatronics, robotics or closely related engineering background.
• Practical experience with robotics, automation or automated electromechanical systems.
• Essential industrial placement or year-in-industry experience in an engineering environment.
• Must be able to start late September/ October.
