Job summary

The postholder is responsible for leading the development, delivery and maintenance of the Defence Medical Academy (DMA) medical simulation capability in support of high-quality healthcare training for the Defence Medical Services.

This is a full time role offering 37 hours per week. Part-time candidates will be considered but due to service delivery requirements it must be on a job share basis as full time hours need to be covered. The salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Job description

The post holder will manage and deliver day to day simulation activities across existing DMA courses and contribute to the design and delivery of new simulation training yet to be defined.

They will provide support and simulation training to DMA instructors to optimise training outputs and grow simulation resilience in the DMA workforce.

Cyber and Specialist Operations Command (CSOC) is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to design the way in which the new Military Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, posts within CSOC are/or may become subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Person specification

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual with experience in technical delivery of clinical simulation in an educational environment. You’ll bring hands-on expertise to optimise the training experience across a range of courses and use your excellent communication skills to collaborate with a breadth of stakeholders, including senior clinicians.
You will be passionate about delivering the highest quality training and continuous improvement, and be supportive of our training teams, helping them to develop their own clinical simulation skills. You will be imaginative and forward thinking in how to embed simulation training into the core of course delivery and build the DMA’s simulation capability for the future.

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

• Managing storage, setup, maintenance and operation of clinical simulation equipment including high fidelity manikins, task trainers, computer-based simulation, audiovisual and recording equipment and debrief facilities.
• Providing technical simulation support and advice to DMA instructors for all DMA training courses which require it, optimising training fidelity through simulation.
• Providing simulation training to DMA instructors to help grow a simulation competent workforce to support the expanding simulation demand in the future.
• Working alongside the full gambit of DMA departments to understand training requirements and design suitable simulation solutions and scenarios to optimise training and ensure simulation quality.

Qualifications

Medical Simulation Qualification such as:
Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) OR
Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH) accreditation OR
Level 3 Education Technician

Previous experience working as a Simulation Technician in a healthcare setting
