Education, Employment and Training Intervention coach

Are you passionate about supporting young people to take their next step into education, employment or training?

We are looking for an Education, Employment and Training Coach to work directly with young people who are not in education, employment or training, or who may be at risk of becoming NEET. This is an important role where you will provide information, advice and guidance, help young people explore their options, and support them to make positive and realistic plans for their future.

All about the Role 

As an Education, Employment and Training Coach, you will work alongside young people at key transition points, helping them to understand the opportunities available to them and supporting them to overcome barriers to progression.

You will provide practical and personalised information, advice and guidance around education, training, employment, volunteering and personal development. You will help young people identify their next steps, access appropriate opportunities, and review their progress over time.

The role will include managing a caseload of young people, including those who are NEET and those of statutory education age who are at high risk of becoming NEET. You will use evidence-based interventions to support progression and will work with young people, parents, carers and partner agencies to build an accurate understanding of each young person's current situation and barriers. Interviews will take place 9th September at Sand Martin House

You will be part of a service that is committed to improving outcomes for young people across Peterborough. The team works with young people who may need additional support to make a positive transition into adulthood, particularly where they are experiencing barriers to education, employment or training. The work is collaborative, varied and purposeful. You will work closely with colleagues across the Council and with a wide range of external partners to share information effectively, coordinate support and help young people access meaningful opportunities. The team is committed to continuous improvement. This includes keeping up to date with post-16 learning opportunities, re-engagement programmes and contributing to the development of processes, quality standards, supervision and training. All about You

We are looking for someone who can build trust with young people and communicate with empathy, patience and confidence. You will be able to listen well, understand individual circumstances, and help young people identify realistic options that support positive progression. You will have experience of working with young people in a relevant environment and be confident working with a range of young people, including vulnerable young people and those with special educational needs. You will understand some of the barriers that can prevent young people from progressing into education, employment or training You will be organised, resilient and able to manage your own workload. You will need strong problem-solving, negotiation, advocacy and information, advice and guidance skills, as well as the ability to keep accurate records using IT systems. You will also be comfortable working flexibly across different locations and, where needed, outside normal working hours. A flexible approach and willingness to travel within and outside the city will be important.
