SAP S/4HANA Consultant (SC Cleared)

Location: Bristol, UK (Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite)
Contract Length: 6 Months (Extension Likely)
Day Rate: £500 - £550 per day (Inside IR35)
Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance Required

Overview

We are seeking an experienced SC Cleared SAP S/4HANA Technical Consultant / SAP Basis Consultant to join a major transformation programme delivering SAP S/4HANA within a secure environment.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA system provisioning, installation, landscape management, HANA database administration, and system lifecycle activities. The successful consultant will play a key role in building and maintaining SAP environments hosted on a hyperscaler platform, with AWS experience highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead SAP S/4HANA system provisioning and landscape setup activities.
• Perform initial SAP S/4HANA system builds within AWS and other cloud environments.
• Execute SAP S/4HANA installations, configuration, and technical setup.
• Manage SAP kernel installations, upgrades, and patching activities.
• Configure clients, transports, RFC connections, and logical systems.
• Support SAP S/4HANA release upgrades, FPS implementations, and Support Package management.
• Participate in performance testing, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) exercises.
• Administer SAP HANA databases, ensuring optimal performance, resilience, and stability.
• Implement backup, recovery, monitoring, and housekeeping processes.
• Support environment refreshes and landscape maintenance activities.
• Work closely with project teams, infrastructure teams, and SAP functional consultants throughout the programme lifecycle.

Essential Skills & Experience

SAP S/4HANA & SAP Basis

• Strong hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA system provisioning and landscape setup.
• Experience delivering initial SAP S/4HANA builds on hyperscaler platforms, preferably AWS.
• Expertise in:
  • SAP S/4HANA installation
  • Kernel installation and patching
  • Client setup and configuration
  • Transport management
  • RFC configuration
  • Logical system configuration
• Experience with:
  • S/4HANA release upgrades
  • Feature Pack Stack (FPS) implementations
  • Support Package Stack management

SAP HANA Database Administration

• Hands-on HANA database administration experience including:
  • Initial sizing and setup
  • Backup and recovery configuration
  • Performance monitoring
  • Database housekeeping
  • Point-in-time recovery

SAP Landscape Management

Strong understanding of SAP landscape architecture including:

• SAP S/4HANA sizing and capacity planning
• DEV, QAS, PRE-PROD and PROD environment management
• Client strategy and refresh processes
• Backup and recovery planning
• SAP logging and monitoring
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery concepts

Requirements

• Active SC Clearance is mandatory.
• Ability to work onsite in Bristol 3 days per week.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and documentation skills.
• Experience working within large-scale enterprise SAP transformation programmes.
