Position Type: Long-Term Contract
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Pay Rate: £92.56 - £95.00 per day
About the Role
Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people's lives? We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Alternative Provision setting in Plymouth on a long-term contract.
In this role, you will work closely with pupils who face barriers to learning, helping them re-engage with education, overcome personal challenges, and rebuild their self-esteem in a safe, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis, tailored to their individual learning and emotional needs.
Help young people build confidence, resilience, and positive attitudes toward their education.
Assist classroom teachers in delivering engaging, accessible learning activities.
Manage challenging behaviours with patience, de-escalation techniques, and positive reinforcement.
Foster an inclusive environment that encourages emotional wellbeing and social development.
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or within an Alternative Provision / PRU setting is highly desirable.
A patient, adaptable, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable learners.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
