About the role

Administrative Officer
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 7PF

If you're looking to build real experience within the Public Sector, this is a fantastic opportunity to join Our Client (MOJ) in a welcoming, people-focused administrative role. You'll support hearings and service users, helping things run smoothly while developing valuable skills along the way.

What you'll be doing:
* Carry out administrative tasks to prepare for, facilitate and support hearings
* Support and signpost users and stakeholders via face to face, telephone (incoming and outbound) and correspondence in different formats
* Use service scripts and knowledge articles to guide people to the right services with clear, consistent information
* Handle complaints in line with policies and procedures-helping users through the process and responding promptly to reduce escalation
* Maintain operational and service standards by following standard operating procedures and meeting performance targets
* Manage case files, ensuring accurate data entry and secure information management in line with retention and data loss protocols
* Support jury service administration, including selection, deferral/reassignment, attendance tracking, and processing expenses and court fees
* Assist with listing and scheduling to help ensure efficient use of judicial time, including responsiveness to urgent matters
* Support enforcement procedures, including financial assessments, fine collection assistance, and producing basic statistical/financial reports
* Contribute to health and safety operations (PEEPs, facility checks, issue logging and key/safety governance under team leader guidance)
* Identify risks relating to HMCTS buildings and inform the Senior Person on Site (SPoS) when required

What you'll bring:
* Confidence communicating clearly, especially with people who may have specific or complex needs
* A careful, process-driven approach focused on accuracy, compliance and service standards
* Professional judgement when working within policies, procedures and escalation routes
* Willingness to handle casework administration and track tasks reliably
* Good IT skills and strong communication skills

Additional information:
* Full time, Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00 (37 hours per week)
* £12.86 per hour, rising to £13.25 after 12 weeks
* On-the-job training provided
* Assignment: Start ASAP until 09/08/2027, with potential extension
