About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is seeking an experienced and committed Home Manager to lead a 4-bed supported living service for young people aged 16–18. The service supports young people transitioning toward independence, including those with emotional, behavioural, or complex needs.

The successful candidate will provide strong leadership, ensure high-quality care and support, and maintain a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment. Previous experience working within Ofsted-regulated services is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Service Management

  • Provide effective day-to-day leadership and management of the supported living service

  • Ensure the service operates to high standards aligned with Ofsted principles and best practice

  • Promote a culture of safety, independence, respect, and positive outcomes

  • Ensure the Statement of Purpose is implemented consistently across the service

Young People’s Support & Safeguarding

  • Ensure young people receive personalised support plans promoting independence and wellbeing

  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing and reporting safeguarding concerns appropriately

  • Oversee risk assessments, behaviour management strategies, and safety planning

  • Promote life skills development, resilience, and positive community engagement

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulations, guidance, and internal policies

  • Ensure the service is inspection-ready at all times

  • Complete regular audits, file checks, and quality monitoring

  • Implement continuous improvement plans to enhance service delivery

Staff Management

  • Recruit, supervise, and develop staff in line with safer recruitment practices

  • Deliver regular supervisions, appraisals, and training

  • Lead team meetings and encourage reflective practice

  • Manage staff rotas to ensure safe and effective staffing levels

Partnership Working

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with:

    • Local authorities

    • Social workers

    • Education providers

    • Health professionals

    • Community and external agencies

  • Ensure clear communication and timely reporting to all stakeholders

Operational & Financial Management

  • Manage resources effectively to maintain a safe and welcoming environment

  • Oversee budgets, occupancy, and cost control

  • Ensure the physical environment meets health, safety, and accommodation standards

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience working within Ofsted-regulated services (children’s residential or supported accommodation)

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership or deputy management role

  • Strong safeguarding knowledge, including experience as a safeguarding lead

  • Experience supporting young people with EBD, complex needs, or vulnerable backgrounds

  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills

  • Flexible approach to work, including participation in on-call arrangements

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or willingness to work towards)

  • Experience within supported accommodation services for young people aged 16–18

  • Knowledge of supported living legislation, pathway planning, and independence frameworks

Additional Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willingness to obtain)

  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)

  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
