Maintenance Caretaker (Education Site)

Salary: From £26,208 per annum (DOE)

About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced and proactive Maintenance Caretaker to support the upkeep and safety of an education setting across two school sites.

This role offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to a safe, well-maintained learning environment for vulnerable children, ensuring facilities are compliant, secure, and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out and record routine compliance checks, including fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, playground equipment, and legionella controls

• Complete a wide range of general maintenance tasks as directed, including carpentry, basic plumbing, and decorating

• Develop and manage a rolling decoration and maintenance programme, planned around school holiday periods

• Oversee and manage contractors on site, ensuring safe working practices and quality standards are met

• Undertake general grounds maintenance, including grass cutting and hedge trimming where required

• Ensure safe pedestrian access at all times by keeping pathways and entrances clear of leaves, moss, ice, and snow

• Respond to reasonable ad hoc maintenance requests from senior leadership or estates teams
