About the role
Location: Oadby, Leicester
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 + OTE bonus of up to £18,000 per annum
Hours: 9:00am–5:00pm, with flexibility required to meet the needs of the home
On-Call: Participation in an out-of-hours regional on-call rota required
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced and motivated Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in Oadby, Leicester.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader who can build and support a strong therapeutic team, maintain high standards of care and safeguarding, and ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
The successful candidate will provide visible, supportive leadership and create a positive culture where both staff and young people feel valued, supported and able to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the home, including:
- Providing strong leadership and direction to the staff team.
- Creating rotas that meet the needs of young people and support effective shift handovers.
- Managing the home’s administration and ensuring accurate management information is maintained.
- Managing budgets effectively and monitoring expenditure.
- Ensuring reporting and recording systems comply with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations and Ofsted requirements.
- Monitoring performance against targets and taking action where improvements are required.
- Promoting a positive, inclusive and supportive team culture.
- Encouraging reflective practice and maintaining high staff morale.
- Ensuring each young person has an individual care plan reflecting their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic and health needs.
- Ensuring care plans are regularly reviewed and updated.
- Allocating Key Workers and ensuring care plans are effectively implemented.
- Managing complaints and safeguarding or child protection concerns appropriately.
- Working in partnership with parents, carers, social workers and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.
- Ensuring all new staff receive a comprehensive induction.
- Providing effective reflective supervision and supporting staff development.
- Addressing conduct, performance and competency issues appropriately.
- Promoting personal and professional development through effective delegation and support.
- Maintaining a visible leadership presence and positive relationships with young people and staff.
- Ensuring staff work in accordance with policies, procedures and Ofsted Quality Standards.
- Promoting a culture of excellence, resilience and a positive “can-do” approach.
- Participating in the on-call rota and supporting other homes within the region when required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about residential childcare and has the confidence and experience to lead a team effectively.
You will be a strong communicator who can remain calm under pressure, build positive relationships and promote a child-centred approach in everything you do.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a children’s residential setting within the last 5 years.
- Minimum 1 year’s supervisory experience.
- Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare, or equivalent.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, or equivalent, or willingness to work towards this.
- Strong teamworking and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Flexibility to work changing and demanding shifts and participate in on-call support.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Clear DBS check, or willingness to complete the required DBS process.
Desirable Requirements
- Strong emotional and social intelligence.
- Good IT skills.
- A positive, proactive “can-do” attitude.
- Full UK driving licence.
