Cloud Engineer

We are recruiting an accomplished Cloud Engineer for a professional permanent opportunity in Birmingham. The role sits within Technology, Data & Digital and is aligned to Cloud & Infrastructure. This role is suited to a capable professional who can build and operate secure, resilient cloud infrastructure. Working within Cloud & Infrastructure, you will take ownership of cloud provisioning, networking, IAM, automation, monitoring, security, cost optimisation and incident support. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical or professional capability with sound judgement, clear communication and a consistently high standard of service. Key Responsibilities

• Take day-to-day ownership of cloud provisioning, networking, IAM, automation, monitoring, security, cost optimisation and incident support.
• Apply sound professional judgement to build and operate secure, resilient cloud infrastructure.
• Deliver work accurately, efficiently and in line with agreed deadlines and service standards.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues, clients, customers or stakeholders and provide timely updates.
• Maintain complete, accurate and appropriately confidential records and documentation.
• Identify risks, issues or exceptions early and take appropriate action or escalate where necessary.
• Work collaboratively with the wider team and contribute positively to service quality and operational performance.
• Follow all relevant legislation, professional standards, organisational policies and health & safety requirements.
• Look for practical opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, customer experience or outcomes.
• Maintain current knowledge, skills and professional development relevant to the role.

Essential Requirements

• Demonstrable experience working as a Cloud Engineer or in a closely related role.
• Practical experience relevant to Cloud & Infrastructure.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a professional and service-focused approach.
• Excellent organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, use sound judgement and contribute effectively as part of a team.
• Confidence using the systems, technology and documentation required for the role.
• Good understanding of security, quality and documentation practices.

Qualifications Required

• AWS, Azure or GCP certification desirable; strong cloud infrastructure experience required.

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience in a comparable Cloud & Infrastructure environment.
• Additional relevant professional training, certification or membership.
• Evidence of continuous professional development and up-to-date sector knowledge.
• Experience improving processes, service standards or team performance.
