About the role

Pay: £89 - £95 per day Contract: Long-Term / Fixed-Term Hours: 8:30 - 3:30, Monday to Friday

If you have experience supporting pupils with complex needs, you understand that patience, structure, and humour are just as important as formal qualifications.

We are seeking a resilient and empathetic Teaching Assistant for a vibrant, highly respected special primary school. This role is ideal for an experienced SEN professional or a dedicated practitioner returning to the sector who thrives in an environment where no two days are the same.

The Role

You will work closely with class teachers to maintain a safe, structured space where pupils with complex learning needs can flourish. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support for children with autism, physical, sensory, or behavioural needs.
  • Helping implement individual education plans and promoting positive behaviour strategies.
  • Utilising specialised communication tools such as Makaton and PECS, while assisting with personal care or mobility when required.
  • Fostering independence, emotional resilience, and social confidence in your pupils.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience working with children in an SEN, care, or alternative provision setting.
  • A calm, adaptable approach and a thick skin for high-pressure situations.
  • Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • Permanent, legal entitlement to work in the UK (the school cannot offer sponsorship).
  • Willingness to undergo a full enhanced DBS check or have one on the update service.

What You Receive

  • The security of a consistent, long-term contract with predictable weekday hours.
  • A supportive, collaborative team that values your practical experience.
  • Continuous professional development and specialised training opportunities.
