Warehouse Team Leader

Our client is looking for a commercially minded and fashion-focused Team Leader to support their eCommerce warehouse operation in Batley.

This is not a traditional warehouse Team Leader role. The successful candidate will lead warehouse teams responsible for sorting garments and identifying the best stock for online resale. You will need a strong understanding of fashion, online selling, product trends and stock value to ensure the most saleable and high-value items are selected for the eCommerce function.

This role would suit someone with experience in fashion, online retail, eCommerce, charity retail, vintage/resale, marketplace selling or garment sorting, combined with strong people leadership and operational coordination skills.

• Monday to Friday
• Day shifts, 08:00 start
• 36 hours per week
• Annual salary £25,557
• Temporary to permanent contract

About the Role

As Team Leader, you will manage teams involved in the sorting, selection, photography, listing, dispatch and movement of stock for online sale.

Product comes into the warehouse continuously, and your role will be to ensure that the sorting team can identify the best items for online channels. You will help maximise sales opportunities by making informed decisions around garment quality, brand value, trend relevance, pricing potential and resale suitability.

You will also support wider operations within the Batley warehouse, including textile sorting and recycling, corporate partnership donations, online retail activity and festival-related stock.

Key Responsibilities

People Management

• Manage Team Members, listers, assistant listers, agency staff, volunteers, placements and corporate groups
• Oversee day-to-day team performance and productivity
• Set, monitor and support delivery against KPIs
• Provide coaching, training and performance feedback
• Support performance interventions, disciplinaries and dismissal or release recommendations, with appropriate sign-off
• Ensure team members are fully trained, communicated with and supported
• Promote a positive, safe and productive working environment

Tactical Operational Delivery

• Plan and control daily workflow across sorting, photography, listing, books, dispatch, culling, inventory and volunteer or corporate activity
• Ensure operational targets are achieved across listing, sales, quality, dispatch and safety standards
• Guide, direct and support teams processing both B2B and B2C orders
• Support the fulfilment of small and large customer orders
• Ensure all shifts are covered and operational hours are maximised
• Support operations across textile sorting, recycling, corporate donations, online retail and festival stock
• Maintain effective leadership and management of systems, processes and people

Stock, Inventory and Commercial Judgement

• Assess, sort and select garments suitable for online resale
• Identify high-value, branded, trend-led and commercially attractive stock
• Ensure the sorting team understands current fashion trends, resale value and online selling opportunities
• Manage stock distribution, inventory, fulfilment and returns
• Make tactical decisions around stock selection, pricing, routing, bundling, relisting, reductions, culling, wholesale and cascade routes
• Maintain listing quality and platform compliance
• Support the implementation of new product workstreams, including books, bundles and postal stock
• Ensure operational processes are in place to deliver agreed objectives

Health & Safety, Compliance and Reporting

• Ensure inductions, safe systems of work and risk assessments are completed and maintained
• Monitor PPE usage, fire procedures, housekeeping checks and document control
• Support effective implementation of company policies and procedures
• Manage on-site Health & Safety requirements as directed
• Support site and team security processes
• Ensure compliance standards are maintained across all areas of responsibility

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience in an eCommerce, online retail, resale, fashion, charity retail or warehouse environment
• Strong knowledge of fashion, garment quality, brands and current product trends
• The ability to identify high-value and saleable stock for online channels
• Experience leading, supervising or coordinating teams
• Strong organisational and workflow planning skills
• Confidence working to KPIs and operational targets
• Good IT skills and an understanding of online marketplaces or eCommerce platforms
• Commercial judgement and the ability to make sound stock-related decisions
• Strong communication skills and the ability to train and motivate others
• Awareness of Health & Safety requirements within a warehouse or operational environment

Desirable Experience

• Experience with eBay, online marketplaces or resale platforms
• Charity retail, vintage, fashion resale or textile sorting experience
• Experience managing volunteers, placements or agency workers
• Knowledge of stock grading, pricing, bundling, culling or recycling routes
• Experience supporting B2B and B2C order fulfilment
• Forklift experience
