About the role

Job summary

The Ministry of Defence, Civil Service workforce is diverse, with many different functions and professions ranging from cyber and digital transformation, police officers, security guards, trainers, human resources, teachers, psychologists, storekeepers, and policy secretariat staff to support the British Army.

Optimisation branch delivers organisational change, including digital transformation, across the outputs of the Army Personnel Centre. The scope of the team touches every single member of the Army with a commensurate level of senior interest. You will be joining a dedicated team that works collaboratively and supports each other. The team has led the way with the development of innovative solutions for modernisation and embraces the use of these tools for everyone involved in the Army's career management processes.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The purpose of this role is to identify and deliver the digital projects (Microsoft Power Applications) that support the Army Personnel Centre's business and Change goals.

As Applications Development Executive Officer your main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement new digital ways of working, information management techniques, and technologies to improve the delivery of Army career management.
  • Contribute to the advancement of team member skills for digitisation projects including Microsoft Office 365 Applications and the MS Power Platform.
  • Embed a pro-active and innovative approach to personal development and training requirements within the Apps Dev team by developing team knowledge and keeping informed of IT advancements.
  • Assist the analysis of existing processes; gather requirements, design and develop; test and release Digital Solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) and M365, engaging with Business Process Owners and key stakeholders throughout.
  • Support regular stakeholder engagement and proactively horizon scan for future change, and its impact on HQMS (Headquarters Military Secretary) and APC (Army Personnel Centre) staff in their use of MODNET, M365 products and other ICT systems in line with Military Secretary's intent to be Digital by Default.
