Although we are Public Servants, we are accredited by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and recruit by merit on the basis of fair and open competition, as outlined in CSC’s recruitment principles.
Due to our status as Public Servants, we are not eligible to participate in the Civil Service transfer process. Therefore, while successful candidates can transfer in on their existing terms and conditions, any subsequent transfer out of the College to the Civil Service will follow the standard Cabinet Office policy and new starter/modernised terms will apply.

Job description
Lead the planning and delivery of national Police Search training on behalf of the Police National Search Centre. Build and maintain effective working relationships across policing, military, government departments, emergency services, and wider partner agencies to ensure the continual development of high‑quality, evidence‑based training. Provide professional leadership to a diverse training team, promoting best practice, operational competence and adherence to national standards. Oversee the full learning lifecycle—including needs analysis, programme design, delivery, evaluation, accreditation and licensing—ensuring all products meet national requirements and support operational effectiveness. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to scope, cost and implement innovative, efficient and impactful learning solutions that enhance operational search capability across UK law enforcement. Ensure the PNSC maintains its reputation as the national authority for search training, enabling high‑quality, consistent and professional delivery across the policing landscape.Person specification
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Lead, define and shape the strategic direction, priorities and development of the Police national Search Centre’s training portfolio
- Oversee the design, development and delivery of complex national Search and Counter Terrorism training programmes
- Represent the PNSC at relevant NPCC, NPoCC, College and specialist Search and Counter Terrorism Governance Groups
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- Significant experience in search and Counter Terrorism security, with a recent PolSa or CTSecCO accreditation
- Being a role model to others, valuing diversity and difference and lead a team to achieve common objectives
- A proven track record in demonstrating exemplary leadership skills and achieving successful outcomes
