About the role
Bid Writer
About The Role
It will take a society to beat dementia. And every successful bid helps make that possible.
At Alzheimer’s Society, we believe no one should face dementia alone. Every day, our services provide vital support, information and hope to people affected by dementia.
We’re looking for a talented and motivated Bid Writer to join our Partnerships and Business Development team, working 35 hours per week on a permanent basis.
This is an opportunity to use your writing skills to create meaningful change. The bids you develop could secure funding for life-changing services, strengthen support in local communities and help more people access the support they need when it matters most.
Working as part of our friendly and high-performing Bid and Tender team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues from across the organisation to develop compelling tenders and funding applications that demonstrate the impact of our work and the value of our services.
This is a home based role with occasional travel across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, including some overnight stays when required (travel expenses covered).
You will use your skills to help secure the funding that enables Alzheimer’s Society to support more people affected by dementia.
Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you’ll develop compelling tender submissions and funding applications, identify new opportunities and contribute to the growth and development of services that make a real difference in local communities.
Your days will be varied and meaningful. You might be…
- Writing a tender that could secure funding for a service supporting hundreds of people affected by dementia.
- Meeting with colleagues to understand the difference their service makes and translating that impact into a compelling bid response.
- Reviewing commissioning priorities and identifying opportunities to expand our reach into new communities.
- Developing service budgets with finance colleagues to ensure services remain sustainable and deliver value.
- Supporting teams to prepare for commissioner presentations and helping them tell their story with confidence.
- Building partnerships and relationships that help us reach even more people who need support.
You’ll be joining a supportive, collaborative and knowledgeable team who genuinely enjoy working together. We share ideas, celebrate successes and support one another through challenges. There will be opportunities to develop your skills, broaden your experience and build your career within a national charity making a real difference.
We know that great people don’t always meet every requirement on paper.
Please don’t be put off from applying if your experience looks a little different. Transferable skills, potential and lived experience are important to us too. If you’re excited by the role and believe you could make a positive contribution, we’d love to hear from you.
About you
You enjoy making sense of complex information and turning it into clear, compelling content that inspires confidence and action.
Whether that’s developing a tender response, building a business case or shaping a funding proposal, you’re someone who can see the bigger picture while keeping a close eye on the detail.
Organised and proactive, you’re comfortable managing competing priorities, building strong relationships and bringing people together to achieve a shared goal.
Experience of writing bids, tenders or funding applications would be valuable, but just as important is your ability to communicate persuasively, think creatively and approach challenges with curiosity and determination.
Most importantly, you’ll be motivated by the opportunity to make a difference, helping secure the funding that enables us to support more people affected by dementia.
About Alzheimer’s Society
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime.
At Alzheimer’s Society, we’re the UK’s leading dementia charity and the only one to tackle all aspects of dementia by giving help and hope to people living with dementia today and in the future. We give vital support to people facing the most frightening times of their lives, while also funding groundbreaking research and campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be.
Together with our supporters, we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
Our values make sure that our focus is clear for the challenges and opportunities ahead and remind us of what we all stand for.
Our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging
We need to ensure the voices around our table better reflect and understand the communities we exist to serve. We strongly encourage individuals to apply who have a disability, impairment or health condition or individuals who identify as Black, Asian or from another minority ethnic background, as these groups are currently under-represented at Alzheimer’s Society.
We want everyone we work with, as a colleague, volunteer, supporter, or someone we support, to feel included and that they belong at Alzheimer’s Society.
Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy here along with our internal employee forum and Employee Lived Experience network groups help us promote inclusion and belonging, becoming an engaged and inclusive organisation for all our people.
Giving back to you
Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people’s lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely, all contributing to a strong work life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer’s Society.
You can also visit our Working for Us pages, which give you more information about what it’s like to be an employee at the Society.
