About the role
Client: Birmingham Children’s Trust
Location: 45 Fordhouse Lane, Stirchley, Birmingham, West Midlands, B30 3BN, United Kingdom
Work Pattern: 3 days remote 2 days in the office – 1 x The Avenue (a day of your choice ) 1 x Lifford House Friday
PAYE Pay Rate: £27.89 per hour
Main Purpose of the Role
To safeguard children and support families by completing timely Section 47 enquiries, assessing risk and making clear, evidence-based decisions about the appropriate level of support or intervention.
Typical Day Overview
- Undertake Section 47 child protection enquiries within required timescales.
- Respond to safeguarding concerns and RED strategy discussions.
- Assess risks, needs and protective factors.
- Meet and communicate with children, parents and careers.
- Work with partner agencies and professionals.
- Complete accurate records, assessments and reports.
- Make recommendations for Child Protection Conferences, Section 17 support or case closure.
- Participate in the team duty Rota.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker.
- Current professional registration.
- Experience working with children and families.
- Experience dealing with safeguarding and child protection concerns.
- Good understanding of Section 47, Section 17 and Initial Child Protection Conferences.
- Strong assessment, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet statutory timescales.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Enhanced DBS
