About the role
Our client, a prominent authority in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Traffic Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This is focusing on delivering a range of route and area-based schemes aimed at enhancing walking and cycling infrastructure within the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting internal senior project managers and engineers on the development of feasibility reports/studies and concept designs for various schemes.
- Assisting and supporting the team with public consultation and community engagement activities, including drafting consultation material.
- Undertaking site surveys, traffic surveys and various other data collection and site investigation works as required.
- Liaising and coordinating with other teams within the Highway service and across the Council to ensure projects align with stakeholders' needs and priorities.
- Preparing briefings and reports for a range of audiences, including technical reports for Transport for London, Council Scheme approval reports, and Councillor briefings.
- Preparing outline construction cost estimates for schemes.
- Assisting senior project managers in developing and maintaining project programmes.
- Assisting senior project managers with the financial control and governance of projects.
- Assisting in the preparation of Traffic Management Orders and Statutory Notices associated with projects.
- Working closely with the Highways Service Construction Team to progress projects through detailed design and construction.
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in traffic engineering and design, particularly with AutoCAD.
- Experience supporting the development of feasibility reports and concept designs.
- Strong skills in public consultation and community engagement.
- Experience in conducting site and traffic surveys.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills for a variety of audiences.
- Ability to prepare construction cost estimates.
- Understanding of project financial control and governance.
- Knowledge of preparing Traffic Management Orders and Statutory Notices.
- Effective collaboration skills with internal teams and external stakeholders.
