Our client, a leading Tier 1 main contractor, is seeking an experienced Design Manager or Senior Design Manager to join the team on a landmark £130m construction project near Devizes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role on a complex, multi-disciplinary scheme that will have a lasting impact on the UK’s custodial estate.

The Project

The project comprises:

• New build of three PCC prison accommodation blocks
• Construction of two external power plant compounds
• New workshop facility
• Extensive site-wide infrastructure and services package
• Total project value of approximately £130m

Working as part of an experienced project team, you will be responsible for managing the design process across multiple workstreams, ensuring the timely delivery of coordinated design information throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project completion
• Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, client representatives and project delivery teams
• Ensure design information is delivered in line with programme requirements
• Review and manage technical submissions, RFIs and design changes
• Identify and resolve design issues to minimise programme and commercial risk
• Drive collaboration between design and construction teams to achieve project objectives

Requirements

• Experience operating at Design Manager or Senior Design Manager level
• Minimum 5 years’ industry experience post-graduation
• Proven track record delivering complex construction projects
• Strong design coordination and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or major projects would be advantageous
• Ability to manage multiple design interfaces across building and infrastructure packages
