About the role

Responsible to and line managed by the Head of Finance, the Apprentice Finance Administrator will be part of a supportive team providing a consistent and high-quality financial service to the academies within Manor Hall Academy Trust. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in finance and administration while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

The Apprentice Finance Administrator will support the day-to-day finance function of the Trust, assisting with financial transactions, record keeping, data entry, and general administrative duties. The post holder will develop an understanding of financial systems, procedures, and best practice, while contributing to the effective operation of the Trust's finance service.

As part of the apprenticeship programme, the successful candidate will attend Newcastle College for one day each week to study towards an AAT Level 2 qualification. Candidates who already hold an AAT Level 2 qualification will have the opportunity to work towards an AAT Level 3 qualification. Subject to successful completion and achievement, there may be the opportunity to progress onto a further level of AAT study during the second year of employment, providing a strong foundation for a future career in finance.

Throughout the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will receive ongoing support, training, and mentoring to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to become a successful finance professional.

We are seeking an individual who:
  • Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above.
  • Has a genuine interest in pursuing a career in finance and accounting.
  • Is enthusiastic, motivated, and willing to learn.
  • Demonstrates good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Has the ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive working relationships.
  • Possesses good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Is confident in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Demonstrates a positive, professional, and proactive approach to work.
  • Shares the Trust's commitment to supporting children and young people through high-quality educational services.
