Tax Assistant

What does a typical day-to-day look like?

• Processing payroll for self-employed clients accurately and on time.

• Assisting with the preparation of Self-Assessment tax returns.

• Supporting with VAT return preparation and submissions.

• Communicating with clients regarding their tax, payroll and financial requirements.

• Raising sales invoices and managing client debts to ensure payments are received promptly.

• Completing bank reconciliations and ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date.

• Maintaining organised client documentation and financial records.

• Supporting the wider team with ad-hoc finance and administrative duties.

Who are we looking for?

• Previous experience within an accounting, finance or tax support role.

• Experience using accounting software such as Xero.

• Familiarity with payroll processing, particularly for self-employed clients.

• Experience with VAT returns and Self-Assessment preparation would be advantageous.

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulae, data analysis and reporting.

• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.

• A basic understanding of UK tax and VAT regulations would be desirable, but is not essential.
